Our Weekend Getaway to Saj By The Lake

It’s just not Saj by the lake but peace by the lake, serenity by the lake, tranquility by the lake, and more such adjectives that can go by this beautiful property 150kms from the hustle bustle of Mumbai. A perfect weekend get away at a doable distance which is more like a home away from home.
A boutique resort right next to the Malshej Ghat Lake in the small town of Pimpalgaon is just the right place to be at to ward off the stress one undergoes dealing with the everyday monotonous life.
We were invited one such weekend and we pounced on the idea
The Room :
As we walked in to the room the 1st thing that caught our sight was the large windows and the scene behind the window was most picturesque one. Clear blue sky and lush greenery and in between these two was the calm placid lake. Another interesting aspect to the room was the washroom which had transparent glass doors which had some  fresh plantations. A very different looking washroom indeed.
We also got the opportunity to see the other rooms of which few were the garden view and few the lake/mountain view.
The Property :
The property was a red bricked one and looked like a vast castle but with all the modern amenities. There was a well maintained lush green garden over looking the property. Small benches were placed across the garden and it was adorned with a play area with slides, swings etc. Extreme care was taken to cater to both the children and adults. Beside the brick mansion was a large pool. Pristine clean and the trees around it made it look divine. They also have an option of screening live sporting events by the pool along with barbecue. Such settings always win overs ones heart too soon.
The Hospitality :
The hospitality was par excellence. Right from the moment we set our foot on the property grounds we were given the best of treatment and care. We were not even allowed to carry a single bag and that’s how they treat every guest and that is how much importance all are showered with. Being available at our beck and call not being bothered about the time was their USP. All he staff were very courteous and well trained to handle any crowd, big or small. They also made sure we enjoyed the ongoing game by setting up a big screen by the pool along with some live barbecue and followed by dinner.
The Food :
Places like these boast of extremely tasty food, but most importantly food that tastes like home cooked. Customized as per the guests requirements , less oily but no compromise on the variety.
The breakfast was the usual fare of the typical Maharastrian Poha, some South India delicacies like Idli, Wada and Dosa, Fresh Fruits and Juices, Paratha , Puri Subzi and of course Eggs to order. Name it and they have it all. A well spread buffet to cater to everyone’s needs. Eat breakfast like an king and indeed we did so.
Even the other meals we had was thoroughly enjoyed by us. We didn’t feel heavy or uneasy after meals but were comfortable and happy. The food had a very unique taste to it, not only because it was cooked well but because the vegetables which they used were fresh out of their own farms and organic and chemical free. One could feel the difference in taste. We were also given bagful of fresh vegetables from the farm which were an absolute delight for fresh vegetable lovers.

Other Amenities :
One doesn’t need much when they go on short trips. They just want to relax and unwind with some good food and wine. But Saj offers a large pool for you to take a dip before breakfast. They also have a few  indoor as well outdoor game facilities. During season they also organize treks and walks by the lake. They also have a small kids play area to keep the kids busy when one takes a stroll in the large garden overlooking the property.
To sum it all Saj by the Lake is the perfect weekend getaway for the over stressed and overworked public. All you need is to book and you know which direction to take drive your car to.

Juss means a 'meal cooked with love' and it was precisely that when a group of us close friends met up over a vegetarian only unlimited Sindhi thali. The thali comprised of Sindhi Curry, Alu Took, Sai Bhaji,Daran ji Curry, Sanna Pakoda, Chaval, Bhuga Chaval, Bhindi Bassar, Rassewale Alu, Boondi Raita, Papad, Puri, Chapatti, Rose Sharbet and a dessert of our choice. This comforting regional thali is a brainchild of Rohit @thehungrymumbaikar & sure is a super duper hit 👍
Our love for this amazing Indian dessert - The Jalebi is known pretty well in the family and @thechiranjeevlakshman made sure he shared a piece of our love through a picture with us. This is the famous Jalebi from Puruliya district in West Bengal served only in the Shal tree leaf. Dipped in the sweetest of syrup yet retaining its crunch. Shubho Nabo Barsho to everyone as well.
Our "TAMIL NEW YEAR SADHYA" at home today was Rice with Beans Poriyal, Urulai Roast, Manga Curry, Thair Pachchadi, Pal Payasam, Murungakkai Sambhar, & Vadaam. Wishing you all a very Happy Vishu & Baisakhi.
A platefull of Goodness. The Grilled Cottage Steak with fried rice, grilled vegetables and french fries was one of the best we've had @pickleandpint @tungahotels . Apart from being flavourful this meal was a great experience. Pic @shubhamkatariyaphotography
Say 'Hello to the Queen' the most delectable dessert of fried bananas, cinnamon, biscuit crumble, vanilla ice cream, and chunks of juicy strawberries.
