Life is all about balance. A balance between work and play. Life becomes too boring if we don’t maintain this equilibrium. And to bring this balance, we need change, a change from the regular and the monotonous. A change that is fun. 3 Wise monkeys, Vashi had the right fix for this with their fortnight long celebrations called ‘3WM Mumbai Retro’ where good food, great drinks and some unlimited fun make sure that you unwind yourself before heading back to the grind.
What you Eat here, what you Drink here, and what you Hear here is what 3 Wise monkeys all about. This famous Casual dining, Pub and watering hole needs no introduction. Quite famous for their quirky food and drinks, The Khar outlet was one of our favorites. And now with the Vashi outlet open, we are more than just happy.
And by happy, we are actually elated by the fact that this is the closest to home. A hop here and a skip there and we land at 3 Wise Monkeys. So here is what happened at our recent visit.
The first vegetarian dish to arrive was the ‘Ahmedabadi Tod Fod Anda’. Egg at its best. The evergreen combination to have eggs and pao was done absolutely right here at 3WM. A double folded layer of omelette at the bottom of the bowl topped with spicy thick curry. The pepper in the gravy gave it the right spice. A heavy and balanced meal.
Following it came the Rapchik Channa Lasoon Fry. True to its name – Rapchik!!! and what does rapchik mean? Have the ‘Rapchik Channa Lasoon Fry’ to know it. Deep fried chick peas and garlic tossed in spices. A killer combination with drinks.
We had the Tipsy Jar to accompany the amazing food. A terrific and potent concoction of Bacardi, Old Monk, Captain Morgan with Pineapple Juice, Passion Fruit Syrup, Orange juice and their special Sweet and Sour mix.
Everyone loves pizza and very few hate sev Puri. When both of it is served as a single dish is a double bonanza. Next on a wooden pizza tray came this ‘Sev Puri Pizza Slice’. Looked very similar to a flat bread but tasted even better. Base of a pizza topped with spicy mashed potato topped with a lot of sev. Very crispy and tasty.
A common bar snack but with a twist. We were served the ‘Masala Khichiya Papad’. Rice papad deep fried and topped with onion, tomatoes, Coriander leaves and sev. Of course the tangy chutneys added to the taste.
As the dishes were served one by one our curiosity reached its peak. Next item served to us was the ‘Killer Pao Bhaji’ A finger licking dish. A very different bhaji which was not the usual spicy and pungent kinds. Though it had the required spice quotient but was extremely creamy. Such a variant has never been had by us before. We really loved this.
All the items at 3WM justified their names. Up next was the ‘Palang Tod Tava Pulao’. Soft long grained rice tossed in different spice and condiments. The chunky potatoes, crisp capsicum and peas added to the flavour of the tomato based rice. A definite must have.
What could be more comforting than a big bowl of hot Maggi. And when special ingredients like cheese and chilly are added it becomes the best ever bowl of Maggi. The ‘ Altimate Cheej Chilli Maggi’ is all that one wants after a tiring day at work. Let’s stop here and make your imagination drool over the thought of it.
Like it is usually said to End ones meal with either a cup of hot tea or dessert. We ended ours with the ‘Cutting Chai Pannacota’. A properly set , not very sweet pannacota served in cutting Chai glass was the last course of the evening. The description doesn’t end here as the pannacota was topped with tea liquor and a cinnamon stick. It tasted as divine and pleasant as it looked.
Our meal ended on a great note. Lots of fun and laughter, good food, great music and some memorable conversations.
Note: The ‘3WM Mumbai Retro Festival’ is on till 18th September. And the time is ticking.
