Ok, Now with the recent culinary revolution going on in India. Chili’s is way ahead of the game, be it their innovations, Variety of extraordinary dishes that makes you drool right from the moment you read about it in the menu or their way of managing your experience in the most unique way.
We were invited to the Special Preview of the ‘House of Ribs’ menu. Consisting of their world renowned Baby Back Ribs in four new flavors as a limited period menu starting this July 2015.
We were personally welcomed by Chef Abhijit Gomare who flew down from Hyderabad just to enhance the whole experience of this bloggers preview meet. He explained everything right from the beginning, and to such a detail that we were enthralled just to listen about the history of Chili’s worldwide and how they are managing their operations here in India. Concluding this he further went ahead to give us a gist of what was in store for us and how they planned to take us through the gastronomic extravaganza. We could barely wait any longer.
In just moments we could hear a bunch of Cocktail Shakers as they maneuvered through the tables towards us. We immediately knew that it was their signature world favorite ‘The Presidente Margarita’ also claimed to be a Margarita so Special, that it’s fit for the President.
The very first taste of this drink takes you away to memories of beaches, sand, sun and the tranquility of relaxation. The Tequila and Brandy mixed with their Signature sour mix just made it a perfect drink to start of a fantastic food expedition.
Just to get us munching, along with the Margaritas we were served the ‘Bottomless Tostada Chips with Homemade Salsa & a Bombay Ranch Dip’ The thin and light, crispy Tortilla chips got us addicted to it in no time. We were told that the chips are imported just so they could maintain the quality across Chili’s worldwide. Well, that plenty much explained the reason we weren’t able to stop ourselves from stuffing our mouths full of chips dipped in the yummy salsa.
We would like to call it a Margarita Madness day, as we were served an unlimited supply of Margaritas, each one just as unique and refreshing that we didn’t mind the anticipated high we were heading to. The second in line was the ‘El Niño’ another Signature Margarita with their Sour Mix. The mildly sweet & sour flavour enriched the young tequila.
Soon enough there were platters, both Vegetarian & Non-Vegetarian, consisting of Buffalo Chicken Wings, Southwest Spring-Rolls with Avocado dip, Paneer Quesadilla Bites with Chipotle Sour Cream, and Chicken Crispers served with a Honey Mustard dip.
The Buffalo Chicken wings had a taste even gods would approve, the spice and sour mix made it juicier with every bite. To quote this in simple words, one could just eat this all day long. The Southwest Spring-Rolls could have had less mushrooms as it was adding too much earthy flavour to the otherwise great dish.
The Paneer Quesadilla Bites were an amazing combination of deep fried Cottage Cheese with a distinctively Smokey flavored, and mildly spicy Chipotle Sour Cream. And the final bet in the platter, the Chicken Crispers was something everyone would fall in love with. Strips of Chicken, beer batter fried to a perfect crispness went amazingly well with the Honey Mustard Dip. Trust us when we say, we’ve never had Chicken so delicious before.
We were then served the Cheesy Poppers, delicately made Pops with spiked gooey cheese filling. The next in line was a Chef Surprise for the Veggie half of us. We were served the soon to be introduced ‘Fresh Tex-Mex Bowl’ A vegetarian option with Rice, Corn Salsa, Salad Mix, Cheese, Chipotle Paneer, Cajun Spices, and Tortilla Chips. This mix of cuisine from Texas and Mexico was indeed very fresh, colorful, crisp and complete in terms of portion size.
As we mentioned it was a Margarita Madness day, the next one on line was a Bartender special, so Praveen, the Barman turns up at our table and tells us to go wild in our imagination in selecting the base flavour, rest of the ingredients and assured us that it would be a once in a lifetime experience. It indeed was one. It was a special feeling altogether, You get to stir up your own drink and you get to Name it too. The flavorful Berry Margarita could have deserved a even better name, but we rightly named it as “Berry o Blast”
Now for the part we’ve all been waiting for, the House Of Ribs menu. The new Baby Back Ribs were introduced in four new flavors.
Chipotle Blueberry: a Smokey, Sweet and mildly Spicy flavorful rib that just melted in the mouth. Served with Skillet Potatoes and Grilled Corn on Cob.
Roasted Garlic: This was more pungent in flavour, with more dominance of Smoked Garlic, served with Skillet Creamed Spinach which was a perfect accompaniment.
Cherry Cola: The Cherry Cola Glaze was beautiful. The juiciest of the lot. The tender meat just slipped out of the bone without effort. Probably that’s why it’s famously also called as “Fall-Off-The-Bone” Baby Back Ribs.
On a personal note, we would love if the House Of Ribs specials found it’s way to the permanent menu.
As our time here in Chili’s came close to an end, we were quite upset by the fact that all the fun and great times were now over. But we sprung back to a wide grin when we saw the dessert that was served. The sensational ‘Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie’ Some chocolate, Some pie and some Paradise. A tantalizing combination of Chocolate Chip Bar & Hazelnut, topped with Vanilla Ice-cream, Hot Fudge and Caramel.
We end this review here, with so much more inside us to share. But with time, we assure you that this good food venture will never stop. Mainly because we’d never get tired of trying new things at Chili’s. The difference between something good and something great is the attention to detail. And the people here go out of the way to make it happen.
