The Guiltless Foodies

We are a gourmand couple who love to discover new places and eat our hearts out. Follow us for a guilt trip along the food road.

Review: The Salad Bar & Walnut Cafe, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

Why do we feel that we don’t show enough love for these simple yet exquisite salads, which have the capability to leave us with a happy heart and a happier belly. Many think that a salad is a silly new trend best suited for the weight conscious.

Exif_JPEG_420But with changing times, salads are also becoming a preferred meal trend over the past few years. Like Dr.SunWolf rightly said. “The colors of a fresh salad are so extraordinary, no painters pallet can duplicate nature’s artistry”. No other meal could justify when it comes to the tasty freshness of a Salad. A salad does what its purpose is meant to. Its neither heavy on the belly, nor on your pockets.

Exif_JPEG_420We discovered this place, rather bumped into The Salad Bar & Walnut Cafe when searching for Sausages and Sandwich on Zomato. Their opening came to us as a happy news since there are no Speciality salad bars in Navi Mumbai. This was more than a reason for us to visit and try it out.

Exif_JPEG_420The strategic positioning of this place makes it easily visible though its on the first floor of what looks like a business park. Once inside, the welcoming interiors and Jazzy music made us feel upbeat about our decision to come here. One section with bright lights and colors to match it and the other section with a laid back style and seating. Quite amused by the ambiance we took our time to settle down and get down to business.

One of us was craving for some good Sausages and Sandwich, So rather than going for the house specialty (salads) we went ahead and ordered things that was on the current craving list. We knew for sure that we are coming back soon enough for more.

Exif_JPEG_420First came the Masala Omelette, We must say there are times when you love your omelette and there are times when you hate it. And this was more than what we loved. We had requested for our omelette to be well done, and indeed it was, perfect amount of spices, with finely chopped tomatoes and onions.

Served with some semi crisp toast and butter. Then came the Grilled Sausages & Barbecue Chicken Sandwich. The sausages were grilled to perfection with a burst of flavors with every bite. On a personal note the filling inside the Chicken Sandwich was quite less compared to what we expected, but tasty enough that we forgot to complain about it.

Like every amazing evening need to end on a sweet note, we asked them to surprise us with some desserts. Who knew waffles would do the job of making the nice dining experience into a memorable one. They served Waffles with whipped cream, Not too sweet waffles with a serving of very light cream. We will make sure we save space for this amazing dessert, every visit.

There was a need of a proper Salad place in Navi Mumbai, Now that void has been filled by The Salad Bar & Walnut Cafe. Everything from their courtesy, food, and decor will make sure you come back for more.
Exif_JPEG_420We sure are !

A sneak peak of what's in store this Summer at @antares_goa where @sarahtodd rustles up some lip-smacking grub and some refreshingly new Cocktails.
Opposites definitely attract. Enjoyed this Crisp and hot Malpua topped with creamy and cold Rabri @tajholidayvillage #goa at their Weekend Brunch. Ain't this a match made in heaven???
Objects in the mirror are much much much cuter than they appear! Repost from @keikothedachshund - Just so you know, I just got my front-seat ride with the drivers licence 🐾🐢 Woohoo πŸ‘…

We need our motivation on Tuesday rather than a Monday, reasons not just 1.What best but the creamy avocado and hummus on toast @thenutcrackermumbai #bandra .
Juss means a 'meal cooked with love' and it was precisely that when a group of us close friends met up over a vegetarian only unlimited Sindhi thali. The thali comprised of Sindhi Curry, Alu Took, Sai Bhaji,Daran ji Curry, Sanna Pakoda, Chaval, Bhuga Chaval, Bhindi Bassar, Rassewale Alu, Boondi Raita, Papad, Puri, Chapatti, Rose Sharbet and a dessert of our choice. This comforting regional thali is a brainchild of Rohit @thehungrymumbaikar & sure is a super duper hit πŸ‘
Our love for this amazing Indian dessert - The Jalebi is known pretty well in the family and @thechiranjeevlakshman made sure he shared a piece of our love through a picture with us. This is the famous Jalebi from Puruliya district in West Bengal served only in the Shal tree leaf. Dipped in the sweetest of syrup yet retaining its crunch. Shubho Nabo Barsho to everyone as well.
Our "TAMIL NEW YEAR SADHYA" at home today was Rice with Beans Poriyal, Urulai Roast, Manga Curry, Thair Pachchadi, Pal Payasam, Murungakkai Sambhar, & Vadaam. Wishing you all a very Happy Vishu & Baisakhi.
A platefull of Goodness. The Grilled Cottage Steak with fried rice, grilled vegetables and french fries was one of the best we've had @pickleandpint @tungahotels . Apart from being flavourful this meal was a great experience. Pic @shubhamkatariyaphotography
Say 'Hello to the Queen' the most delectable dessert of fried bananas, cinnamon, biscuit crumble, vanilla ice cream, and chunks of juicy strawberries.
